Fujian Forestry Vocational and Technical College (FFVTC) was established in 1954 as Fujian Forestry Vocational School. With its original campus embedded in Tianlin Mountain, it has a history of 69 years and was promoted to be a college in 2003. FFVTC has carried over the “Tianlin Spirit” of being devoted, industrious, pragmatic and aspiring, as well as the motto of “Practice earnestly with a clear mind. Work proficiently with a virtuous heart.” FFVTC is progressing dynamically and sustainably while engaging to help with the construction of the ecological civilization demonstration zone and the state initiative of rural vitalization.

With a 732-acre land area and a 229,000-square meter gross building area, Fujian Forestry Vocational and Technical College has two campuses, namely Tianlin, and Jiangnan. There are 14 administrative offices including Party and Administration Office, Organization Department, Publicity Department, Discipline Supervision Office, Student Affairs Office, Teaching Affairs Office, Logistic Service Office, Personnel Education Division, Planning and Finance Department, Department of Scientific Research and Exchange Cooperation,

Enrollment and Career Service Office, Youth League Committee, Labor Union, and Security Office. The 3 teaching assistance offices are the Library, Training Center and Modern Educational Technology Center. And the 12 academic departments are Department of Forestry, Department of Architectural Engineering, Department of Intelligent Manufacturing, Department of Economics and Management, Department of Landscape Architecture, Department of Transportation Engineering, Department of Accounting and Finance, Department of Arts and Media, Department of Information Engineering, School of Continuing Education, School of Marxism and Department of General Education. Students from 15 provinces nationwide have the access to apply for 40 majors. And now the college boasts 17800 full-time college students, and 1500 students studying for adult education for academic credentials.

FFVTC has received multiple accolades and recognition including National Model Backbone Higher Vocational College, National Advanced Vocational Education Units, National Pilot Unit of Modern Apprenticeship System, National Greening Model Unit, The first Batch of Pilot Colleges of Educational Informatization of the Ministry of Education, Demonstration Sites of Party Building in Colleges and Universities across the Province, Fujian Exemplary Modern Vocational Colleges and Class A Unit of Fujian High-level Vocational Colleges and Specialty Construction Plan.

The college teams up with a bunch of enterprises to have established 2 state-level and 13 provincial level practical training bases that integrate industry and education, including Forest Ecology VR/AR Practical Training Base, Fulai UAV Academy, Skill Mater Studio, Chenxi Workshop, Jiehang Engineering Inspection Center, Intelligent Greenhouse, R&D Base of Flower Cultivation, Forest Ecology Station, Intelligent Forestry Training Base, provincial level Forestry Pest Epidemic Detection and Identification Center, etc.

The total value of fixed assets of FFVTC amounts to 643 million CNY and the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is worth 115 million and 190 thousand CNY. The college has a collection of 604,500 books. Wi-Fi covers the entire campus.

FFVTC has been accelerating its infrastructure construction. To be in line with the 14^th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development (2021-2025)，the college is planning on investing 600 million in infrastructures. At present, four projects are under construction. They are the training center and its network of roads and pipelines at Plot A of Jiangnan Campus Phase 2 construction zone (budget: 135 million, building area: 26,800 SQM), No. 8 Dormitory at Plot B of Jiangnan Campus Phase 2 construction zone (budget: 80 million, building area: 20,300 SQM), No. 3 Dining Hall and Student Center at Plot B of Jiangnan Campus Phase 2 construction zone (budget: 64 million, building area: 28,700 SQM), and the accessory facilities for No. 8 Dormitory and No. 3 Dining Hall (budget: 15.5 million). These four projects are due to be completed next year with a total budget of 295 million and a combined building area of 75,800 SQM.

FFVTC will also invest 160 million to launch four more projects in 2022. They are No. 9 Dormitory at Jiangnan Campus (budget: 90 million, building area: 20,000 SQM), Jiangnan Industry and Education Integrated Training Base A (budget: 32 million, building area: 7600 SQM); Jiangnan Industry and Education Integrated Training Base B (budget: 36 million, building area: 8600 SQM), and the flood control project at Plot B of Jiangnan Campus Phase 2 construction zone. After completion, the college will have added 112 thousand square meters to reach a total building area of 341 thousand square meters, which will bring about a significant upgrade of school buildings and facilities that better facilitate teaching and benefit the students.

FFVTC has built 3 national quality curricula and 24 provincial quality curricula and has received 17 teaching achievement awards on and above provincial level. Among them, Construction and Practice of Forestry Talent Nurturing Matrix for Vocational Colleges to Assist the Building of an Eco-friendly Fujian Province was granted 1^st prize of National Teaching Achievement Award in 2014. Construction and Practice of the School-Enterprise Integrated Education Framework to Assist the Forestry Economic Transition won second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award in 2108. Construction and Practice of School-Enterprise Integration to Facilitate the Building of Ecological Civilization was the Special Award winner of Fujian Teaching Achievement Award in 2020. Innovation and Practice of Ti-Zhi-Lian Education Model for Vocational Colleges in the New Era received 1^st prize of Provincial Teaching Achievement Award in 2020.

In the past five years, students of FFVTC has won 6 first prizes, 7 second prizes, and 8 third prizes in National Vocational College Skills Competitions, as well as 61 first prizes, 78 second prizes and 89 third prizes in Provincial Vocational College Skills Competitions. The most recent achievements are 4 first prizes in the 4 events of Plant Tissue Culture, Quality Control of Agricultural Products, Engineering Inspection, and Application of Architectural Decoration Technology.

FFVTC has 453 faculty members, including 408 teachers, 23.8% of which are senior professors (headcount:21) and assistant professors (headcount:76). There are 206 (50.5%) teachers with Master’s degrees (or the equivalent). 269 (66%) of the teachers have gained technical qualification certificates. We have 1 state-level teaching team, 6 province-level teaching teams, 2 province-level Prominent School Principals, 8 Master Teachers, 7 Prominent teachers, and 18 Academic Leaders.

FFVTC has innovated career-oriented training and the model of Education Group featuring government-school-enterprise collaboration. This combined with our special effort in practical forestry technology training and in bringing science and technology to the countryside, has helped to cultivate many technical experts and special talents to bring foresters out of poverty and towards wealth.Offering vocational training and skill appraisal to average 21,500 foresters and voluntary training to more than 3,600 foresters annually, it has become the largest foresters training center in the province and trained a large number of foregoers in new rural construction and poverty alleviation and prosperity.

Facing new challenges and tasks in the new era, FFCTC will continue to be under the guidance of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, earnestly implement the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the 11th provincial Party Congress and create a new situation for the college’s development.

The College will further integrate teaching with industry, promote school-enterprise cooperation, deepen education and teaching reform, improve governance ability and upgrade informatization. Complying with state and province level strategies like Rural Vitalization, Ecological Civilization, Targeted Poverty Alleviation, Made in China 2025 and Mass Innovation and Mass Entrepreneurship, FFVTC is aspiring to become a first-class forestry vocational college nationwide with distinct characteristics and strengths and the province’s largest forestry elite training base to nurture skilled technical personnel serving the construction of a dominant green province. FFVTC is also striving to be a model and pacesetter for vocational colleges in the province with its effort in contributing to rural vitalization, an R&D source of important forestry applied technologies and a major base for the inheritance and innovation of ecological civilization and forest culture.
